  39. This is the official release of WinNAV, FlashPoint's Windows Navigator,
  40. version 3.00.61.  All existing beta copies, distributed in the files
  41. NAV06A.EXE, NAV06B.EXE and NAV06C.EXE, should be destroyed.

  45. NEW FEATURES
  46. ------------

  48. This release introduces a new 3-D/graphics format and interface
  49. similar to PC-Tools/Shell, a batch print utility, utilities to view
  50. files within archives (double click left mouse or press return key on
  51. selected file in archive directory  when Quick View window active),
  52. full support for the ARC, PKARC, LHARC, LHA and PKZIP DOS utilities
  53. as well as SCAN and CVT, popup track menus (click right mouse button
  54. on list or view windows), 36 user defined function keys, the initial
  55. MS Windows online help system, internal copy functions which will
  56. create directories if they don't already exist, add/make directory
  57. function, global searches by file date and size, drive and directory
  58. statistics, and much more.

  62. WARNING TO CURRENT WINNAV USERS
  63. -------------------------------

  65. Release 0.61 of WinNAV adopts a new format for the [Run Buttons]
  66. section of the WINNAV.INI file.  Therefore, you must reinstall any
  67. custom Run buttons -- the good news is that they can now be installed
  68. directly from the "Action:Run Task" dialog panel.
  69.  
  70. This was required as a result of 0.61 implementation of 36 user defined
  71. function key combinations.  The first 12 keys (the F1-F12, Shift+Alt
  72. combinations) invoke the same applications as appear in both the Run Task
  73. dialog panel and the popup "User" menu; these are identified in the 
  74. [Run Buttons] section of the sample WINNAV.INI file by the LB1-LB12
  75. keywords.

  77. The remaining 24 user defined function key combinations are invoked 
  78. by the Control+Alt+Function Keys (LB13-LB24), and the Shift+Control+
  79. Alt+Function Keys (LB25-LB36).  These are also setup using the 
  80. "Action:Run Task" dialog Panel.

  84. SHAREWARE DISK VENDORS AND BBS SYSOPS (READ WINNAVB.TXT)

  87. Shareware disk vendors, BBS Sysops and other non-individual distributors
  88. must read the file WINNAVB.TXT, for instructions and restrictions on
  89. distribution of non-registered copies of WinNAV.

  96. New users should simply copy the following files to their  main
  97. Windows directory (e.g., C:\WINDOWS):

  108.                 Quick View directory list)

  110.     WNVARC.COM        A utility to extract and load a file
  111.                 within an ARC formatted archive, for
  112.                 viewing.  Supports/requires ARC.EXE.

  114.     WNVPKA.COM        A utility to extract and load a file
  115.                 within an ARC formatted archive, for
  116.                 viewing.  Supports/requires PKXARC.COM.

  118.     WNVLZH.COM        A utility to extract and load a file
  119.                 within a LZH formatted archive, for
  120.                 viewing.  Supports/requires LHARC.EXE,
  121.                 or LHA.EXE (renamed to LHARC.EXE).

  135.                 configuring WinNAV for your own use.

  138. Current users should NOT copy the WINNAV.INI sample file over their 
  139. existing WINNAV.INI file, or they will destroy any existing custom
  140. configuration information.

  142. In addition, the following third-party shareware applications should be
  143. located in a subdirectory that is identified in your DOS "PATH=" statement
  144. in your AUTOEXEC.BAT file:

  146.     PKZIP.EXE        These are used for ZIP archive functions,
  147.     PKUNZIP.EXE        and are included in the PKWare
  148.     ZIP2EXE.EXE        distribution archive. 
  149.     PKZIPFIX.EXE

  151.     ARC.EXE            These may be used for ARC archive, and
  152.      MKSARC.EXE        included in the SEA ARC distribution
  153.                 archive.

  155.     PKARC.COM        These may be used for ARC archive, and
  156.     PKXARC.COM        included in the PKWare PKARC distribution
  157.      PKSFX.PGM        archive.

  159.     LHARC.EXE        This is used for LZH archive functions,
  160.                  and is included in the
  161.                 LHARC distribution archive.

  163.     SCAN.EXE        This is used for the virus scan functions,
  164.                  and is included in McAfee's Virus Scan
  165.                  distribution archive.

  167.     CVT.COM            These are used by the convert archive
  168.     CVT?????.???        format functions, and are included in
  169.                 Starling's CVT-22 distribution archive.
